    Share price of Vedanta falls as Sensex gains 11.0 points

    Share price of Vedanta Ltd. dropped 0.46 per cent to Rs 280.2 at 12:56PM (IST) in Thursday's trade. The scrip hit a high of Rs 282.8 and low of Rs 279.35 so far during the session. The stock had closed at Rs 281.5 in the previous session.

    The counter had a total traded volume of 12:56PM shares so far with a turnover of Rs 3.65 crore on BSE. The stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 7.2 and a price-to-book ratio of 2.3.

    A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price for per rupee earnings given by the stock because of better future growth expectations.

    The price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.

    Promoters held 69.69 per cent stake in the company as of 31-Dec-2022, while overseas investors and domestic institutional investors ownership stood at 7.9 per cent and 11.04 per cent, respectively.

    The company reported consolidated net sales of Rs 34818.0 crore for the quarter ended 31-Dec-2022, down 6.78 per cent from the previous quarter's Rs 37351.0 crore and down 0.42 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 34674.0 crore.

    Its profit for the latest quarter stood at Rs 2464.0 crore, down 40.83 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.
