PUNE: A 33-year-old woman software engineer has become the latest victim of part-time online job bait, losing all her savings of Rs 39.70 lakh to cybercrooks.
The woman on Tuesday and filed a complaint with the Sangvi police. Inspector Sunil Tambe of the Sangvi police told TOI the complainant was looking for a better job opportunity. "On April 6, she had received a call from an unknown person, offering her a job. The caller had told the woman that she needed to complete a few tasks and took her bank details," Tambe said.
Tambe said initially, the woman was given the tasks to like and share a few video clips. "When she completed those tasks, the crooks immediately sent her money and gained her confidence," the officer said.
He said the crooks then told the woman to invest more money with them to earn handsome returns, which she did.
