Rule to restrict a city, county or the state from instructing hotels and motels to put up with the homeless was passed in the state Senate last week.It is waiting for action by Governor Katie Hobbs. Worried that hotel workforces could be made to enact the role of social workers, the tourism industry ofArizona is requesting the governor to sign the bill into a commandment.
Introduced by Rep. Matt Gress, R-Phoenix, HB 2379 was formed toavoidcomparable programs that are by now in place or planned in California from attaining a position here.
Next spring, voters inLos Angeles will think at the ballot box if the city wouldorder hotels to house the homeless in exchange for coupons when the hotel has empty rooms.
Those opposing the L.A. measure have mentionedsecurity and wellness reasons, since hotel and motel personnel are not prepared with the assets or instructions to satisfactorily help people who are going throughrootlessness, or to deliver services connected to mental and physical wellbeing.
In L.A. in Arizona, stakeholders are functioning to complement the need for lodging with the restrictions and privileges of private hoteliers.
