Yash Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra dies at 85

Pamela Chopra, the wife of legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra passed away on Thursday morning due to age-related illnesses, reports said. She was 85.

Pamela Chopra, the wife of legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra passed away on Thursday morning due to age-related illnesses, reports said. She was 85.

According to reports, Pamela Chopra, the mother of Yash Raj Films chairman Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra, passed away today morning at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai where she had been undergoing treatment for age-related issues for the past two weeks.

They said that Pamela was put on a ventilator, however her health deteriorated over the past few days and she died on Thursday morning.

Condolences for Pamela Chopra have started pouring in from Bollywood bigwigs.

Pamela Chopra was the wife of iconic filmmaker Yash Chopra and also a successful playback singer, having lent her voice to several hits in Bollywood blockbusters such as ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Noorie’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’.

Pamela, 85, was also a film write and producer in her own right, having written the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ and independently producing ‘Aaina’ in 1993, besides also co-writing the script of Yash Chopra’s 1997 blockbuster Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

She also has the credits as dress designer for ‘Silsila’ and ‘Sawaal’.

Pamela and Yash Chopra’s families got acquainted in the 1960s through a common friend and the two got engaged.

Pamela and Yash Chopra were married in 1970 in a traditional wedding.

Pamela Chopra, mother to Aditya and Uday Chopra, was last seen in the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Netflix documentary ‘The Romantics’ where she talked about her husband Yash Chopra’s journey from an assistant to his brother B.R Chopra to becoming one of the biggest filmmakers in the history of Indian cinema.

Pamela Chopra and Yash Chopra also appeared on screen together once in Ek Duje Ke Vaaste, the opening song of 1997 hit Dil Toh Pagal Hai.

Afwaah trailer out: Bhumi Pednekar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sumit Vyas deal with consequences of a rumour in this social drama

Afwaah’s release date had gotten postponed earlier due to technical issues but now the film is set to release on May 5, 2023.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar will be seen together on the big screen for the first time in the film Afwaah, which talks about the consequences people have to face because of a rumour. The film is a thriller social drama, also starring Sumit Vyas, Sharib Hashmi, Sumit Kaul, Rockey Raina, TJ Bhanu, and Eisha Chopra. 

Afwaah is helmed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks production house. It is co-produced by Dhrub Kumar Dubey and Sagar Shirgaonkar.

Fans have been waiting for the film since its official announcement was made and the poster garnered a lot of attention on social media, but the release date had gotten postponed due to technical issues. It will finally be hitting the theatres on May 5, 2023, as announced by Anubhav on social media on Wednesday. He wrote while sharing the poster, if you run, it will follow you. If you hide, it will find you. An Afwaah will never stop chasing you! The Afwaah trailer is out today.

The film revolves around Rahab, a top advertising professional, and Nivi, a political heiress, who find no place to hide after they get caught up in a vicious rumour spread by social media machinery. A rumour becomes a monster that chases them and becomes so devastating that it changes the course of their lives and flips it.

Bhumi Pednekar shared the trailer on her social media on Wednesday and wrote that you can try to escape, but the chase never stops. One rumour can flip your life. Afwaah trailer is out now.

Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in Bheed alongside Rajkumar Rao. She will be next seen in The Lady Killer, her first film with Arjun Kapoor.

Whereas, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen in Haddi and Tiku Weds Sheru.

Legendary Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away at the age of 54, on April 29, 2020, after fighting a long battle with cancer. The actor was one of the most loved and respected actors in the industry and left a void, not just for his family but also for the film industry. His fans still reminisce about him and his acting skills are appreciated to the day. It is a joyous moment for all the fans as they will get to see the actor in his form on the big screen for one last time.

The late actor’s last film The Song Of Scorpions has gotten a release date and will be hitting the theatres on April 28, 2023, just a day before his third death anniversary. The film is bankrolled by Zeeshan Ahmad who said, it was an honour that his name was associated with this film as a co-producer and one of the presenters.

He was glad that Khan’s last onscreen appearance in a film is soon going to be released in cinemas across the country and his fans will get to see him one more time on the big screen. He added that Irrfan’s character and performance in the film are going to leave all spellbound.

Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan on Wednesday shared the trailer with the world. He wrote, bringing alive a heart-wrenching tale of love, obsession, and betrayal. The Song Of Scorpions trailer is out now.

The film also stars veteran actors Waheeda Rehman and Shashank Arora in pivotal roles.

Irrfan Khan will play the character of a camel trader who falls in love with Nooran, who is a tribal woman. She is independent and has been learning the ancient healing art of scorpion singing from her grandmother. According to a myth in their village, anyone who gets bitten by a scorpion will die unless a scorpion singer sings a song to cure the person.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan

The most-anticipated Eid release of this year is Salman Khan’s film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The story revolves around the eldest son of a large family, portrayed by Salman Khan, who is an honest yet violent man. He decides to mend his ways for his girlfriend, played by Pooja Hegde. However, when he learns that his girlfriend’s family are in a problem, he sets out to protect them without anyone’s knowledge.

Directed by Farhad Samji, the action-packed film also stars Daggubati Venkatesh, Jagapathi Babu, Bhumika Chawla, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Jassie Gill, Vinali Bhatnagar, Shehnaaz Gill and Palak Tiwari.

Chengiz

Co-written by Neeraj Pandey and director Rajesh Ganguly, Chengiz is a Bengali language film that stars Jeet, Susmita Chatterjee, Rohit Bose Roy and Shataf Figar in lead roles. The film follows the story of chronicles of the underworld of Calcutta between the period of 1970 and to 1990s. The film is made to be a pan-India and will hit the theatres on April 21, 2023.

Virupaksha

Sai Dharam Tej, the popular Tollywood star, is set to release a pan-Indian film for the first time. Virupaksha is a story about unsolved mystical elements found in a village named Rudravanam. This socio-fantasy thriller film is helmed by Karthik Dandy and also stars Samyukta Menon and Sunil.

Tamilarasan

Directed by Babu Yogeswaran, Tamilarasan stars Vijay Antony as a policeman. The thriller film was postponed and now will be released in the theatres on April 21, 2023. It also stars Ramya Nambeesan, Radha Ravi, Sonu Sood, Sangeetha, Robo Shankar and Yogi Babu.

Yaathisai

Yaathisai is a periodical fiction film based on the 7th-century Pandiyan prince Ranadheeran, who ruled at the time when the Chola kingdom lost its power and its people were forced into the woods. The film stars Shakti Mithran, Guru Somasundaram, Rajalakshmi Gopalakrishnan, Samar Periyasamy, Seyon Purushothaman and Vaidhegi Amarnath as lead characters.
