Bhubaneswar: Five habitual criminals were sent to judicial custody in Puri on Wednesday for allegedly violating the provisions of Section 110 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
Section 110 of CrPC mandates security for good conduct and behaviour by habitual offenders.
The sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) ordered detention of the five habitual criminals in judicial custody for about two years.
“Though they had furnished bonds with sureties to the SDM to refrain from committing any crime, they were found breaching the conditions,” Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said.
The five accused are Mahavir Pradhan, Pratap Pattnaik, Rajendra Nayak, Keshab Prusty and Sanjay Kumar Das.
