Head clerk held in Puri for graft

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested Raghunath Bisoi, a head clerk of district sub-registrar’s office in Puri, for allegedly taking Rs 5,000 bribe from a man. Bisoi had sought the bribe to issue power of attorney in the complainant’s favour to carry out business transactions on behalf of his father due to his illness. Bisoi demanded Rs 10,000 to issue the power of attorney. He later reduced the bribe amount to Rs 5,000. “Our personnel laid a trap and arrested him red-handed with the bribe amount,” a vigilance official said. TNN
