Public and private sector banks in India will be closed on April 21 or April 22 (depending on the states) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) holiday list, the bank holiday for Eid will be observed on the fourth Saturday of the month, which would result in several states' public and private lenders being closed on April 22.
Due to bank holidays, which include weekends, various private and public sector banks in India will be closed for a total of 15 days in the month of April 2023. The second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays, would be closed in accordance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations.

Bank holiday on April 21
Banks will remain closed on April 21, Friday in Tripura, Kerala, Jammu, Srinagar.
Bank holiday on April 22- Ramzan Eid (Eid-Ul-Fitr)
According to the RBI Holiday list, banks are closed in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil nadu, Uttarakhand, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Goa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Srinagar.
As April 22 falls on the fourth Saturday, it will be a holiday for banks as per the RBI guidelines.
Bank holidays are categorized under these three categories-
· Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act
· Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday.
· Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
