Persistent Systems(up 0.15 per cent) were among the top gainers.
Coforge(down 1.54 per cent), Infosys(down 1.5 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 1.18 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 1.12 per cent) and MPhasis(down 1.05 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty IT index was down 0.96 per cent at 26906.05 at the time of writing this report.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 39.2 points at 17620.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 141.24 points at 59585.77.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Tata Steel, Bank of Maharashtra, Zomato Ltd. and Piramal Pharma Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Mangalam Worldwide Ltd., Kamat Hotels, Som Distill, Faze Three Ltd and Neuland Labs hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sanco Industries, Cyber Media Ltd, Orient Electric, Vikas Multicorp and Udayshivakumar Infra hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
