The CBI wrote on Tuesday to
Trinamool Congress general secretary
Abhishek Banerjee saying it was keeping “in abeyance till further orders from the Supreme Court” its summons, issued Monday, asking him to appear for questioning, reports Rohit Khanna.
The CBI said on Tuesday it was a “formality” to put the summons “in abeyance” if there was an order from the court. “We are duty-bound to send a corrective notice in case any summons has reached a person despite a court order,” a CBI officer said. “There is a channel of communication through which information about the SC stay order should have reached us. But that did not happen,” a CBI officer said.
