Mysuru: Unlike Monday when the election officials were flooded with candidates filing nomination papers, it had come down to a trickle as it is Tuesday, which is considered as inauspicious by many Hindus.
Barring Kavish Gowda (BJP-Chamundeshwari), KV Mallesh (JD(S)- KR), Ajjikuttira S Ponnana (Congress- Virajpet), Sudha Shivaramegowda (JD(S)- Nagamangala), CS Puttaraju (JD(S)- Melkote) and YSV Datta (JD(S)- Kadur) not many filed their nominations on Tuesday.
Pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj filed nomination papers from Chamarajanagar constituency in Chamarajanagar.
In Mysuru district, 34 candidates filed nomination papers. BJP candidate from Nanjangud B Harshavardhan filed four sets of nomination papers. In Chikkamagalur district, 18 candidates submitted nomination papers. YSV Datta (JD(S) Kadur), DT Rajegowda (Congress- Sringeri), Nayana Motamma (Mudigere- Congress) and GH Shrinivasa (Tarikere-Congres), are the prominent leaders who filed nomination papers.
In Kodagu, at Virajpet assembly constituency Congress candidate AS Ponnanna filed his nomination papers. Ponnanna, who came in a procession, submitted his nomination papers. Meanwhile, three independent candidates have filed nominations in Madikeri constituency. In Chamarajanagar district, 12 candidates submitted 13 nominations. In Mandya district, 26 candidates submitted 31 nomination papers, while in Hassan 20 candidates submitted 21 nomination papers.
