PO held, 272 g heroin seized from car in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: A proclaimed offender (PO) who was wanted by the Special Task Force (STF) in a drug peddling case, was arrested by the Ludhiana unit of STF. The officials seized 272g heroin from his car parked outside his home in New Janta Nagar. He had hidden the contraband in the air filter of the car.
The accused has been identified as Amandeep Jethi who is already facing trial in at least seven cases lodged at various police stations.
Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, Ludhiana STF, said the accused was declared a PO in a drug peddling case of October 2022. He was arrested following a tip-off on April 13. During interrogation, Jethi gave information on heroin hidden in his car.
The inspector said Jethi’s family was also involved in drug smuggling. tnn
