Margao: The owners of wedding and other event venues installing real-time noise-level monitoring systems will be exempted from taking sound pollution documents and related permissions, said minister for environment Nilesh Cabral on Wednesday.
Speaking at a function at Curchorem, Cabral said the government will make it mandatory for owners of such venues to get the real-time noise monitoring system installed at their premises. Around three months ago, the government had announced that Goa State Pollution Control Board would ask the event premises owners to install such systems to monitor noise pollution that the board will monitor through a centralised server, in real time.
“The owners of wedding venues and other event premises, who install such real-time monitoring systems need not take permission from deputy collector, excise department and others,” said Cabral. He said this will be a relief as in normal circumstances, they have to get other permissions. “Once they install the monitory system, it will be a comprehensive thing,” he said, adding that he has discussed the matter with chief minister Pramod Sawant.
Cabral urged people to book only those venues which will have the noise monitoring system. He also said that Artificial Intelligence powered Signal Management Systems like the one installed at Merces circle will be set up at all major traffic junctions.
