Vadodara: The Siddhnath pond located a stone’s throw away from the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) office has eventually got some attention.
For quite some time, people staying in areas around the pond had been demanding that the water body should be cleaned up.
The pond was renovated about a decade ago with paver blocks, steel railings and other materials.
However, it went into a state of neglect after this and locals claimed that drainage water was being released into it.
The water in the pond was covered with moss and garbage had also been dumped in some parts.
Local corporator Balasaheb Surve said he had been raising the issue for quite some time now and eventually the VMC had decided to take some action.
A team of civic officials and engineers inspected the pond on Tuesday.
They assured Surve and others that the pond will be cleaned up soon and the sources of drainage will be identified to ensure that dirty water is not released into it.
