The Milwaukee Bucks have listed their star forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, as doubtful for Game 2 against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The Greek Freak suffered a back injury after falling awkwardly in his attempt to take a shot over Kevin Love late in the first quarter on Sunday.
The Bucks lost Game 1 of the best-of-seven series 130-117 on Sunday and badly needed Giannis in the lineup. The Heat's offense was too much to handle and their 3-pointers kept falling. Despite Khris Middleton's 33-point performance, Milwaukee still lost big time.
Jimmy Butler led the Heat with 35 points and 11 assists, while Bam Adebayo dominated inside with 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Game 2 will take place on Wednesday on Milwaukee's homecourt, and the team will look to even the series.
Giannis Antetokounmpo's status for Game 2 isn't final, however, the Bucks could start preparing for what's to come in their next match against the Heat. Given the tenacity that Miami showed in Game 1, Milwaukee should start their preparations to get the chance to even the series
In Game 1, Giannis had to exit the game early on due to an awkward fall. From there, the Heat took advantage of the opportunity and started focusing on taking the ball to the rack. Without the Greek Freak to protect the rim, Brook Lopez was left alone and had to make the most of the interior defense himself.
The Bucks have to be able to integrate other players into their offense. Obviously, a lone star like Khris Middleton won't be able to do everything on his own. They'll have to play more like a team and get the other players going into their offense. In Game 1, Milwaukee utilized Middleton a ton in their offense, but it wasn't enough.
If they want to even the series, the Bucks should work more as a team and help each other out on the floor.
The MVP race this season has been tight. Two of the top big men in the NBA have battled throughout the entire season to win the MVP award. However, most fans have forgotten Giannis, who's also a top candidate to win the award.
Unfortunately, it's unlikely that the two-time MVP will win his third this season. The performances of Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid this season have been better than Giannis'.
But that doesn't mean he can't win a third MVP award. Who knows, he might be the winner for the next season.
