Sources said that commissioner of police (Prayagraj) Ramit Sharma had constituted a three-member SIT to probe the killings. UP DGP further appointed a three-member supervisory team headed by ADG (Prayagraj zone) for quality and time-bound investigations into the matter.

The SIT has taken over the probe into the sensational double murder and recorded the statements of policemen, who were assigned duties for escorting the gangster brothers from the Dhoomanganj police station to Colvin Hospital.
The SIT team also collected the records pertaining to the probe and checked the role and responsibilities of the policemen assigned duties while recording the statements.
The SIT is likely to recreate the crime scene as part of investigations shortly.
