Shares of MPhasis(up 0.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Coforge(down 3.13 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd(down 2.87 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 2.36 per cent), Infosys(down 2.16 per cent) and Wipro(down 1.93 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 1.77 per cent down at 26687.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 41.4 points at 17618.75, while the BSE Sensex stood down 159.21 points at 59567.8.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 0 ended in the green, while 0 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Tata Steel, Zomato Ltd., Reliance Power and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of BEML Land Assets, Mangalam Worldwide Ltd., Kamat Hotels, Shera Energy Ltd. and Som Distill hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jakharia Fabric, Marico, Orient Electric, Vikas Multicorp and Punjab Chemical hit their fresh 52-week lows.
