JAIPUR: There was no respite from the scorching heat conditions for the 4th consecutive day on Tuesday when majority of the places witnessed its temperatures above the normal notch. Chittrorgarh remained hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 43.2 °C.
Attributing the rise in the temperatures to the active northerly winds, Jaipur Met office said that the heat wave conditions will further aggravate in the state in the next 24 hours. Many places are likely to get its maximum temperatures at or above 41.0 °C.
People in Jaipur woke up to the hottest morning of the season so far as a minimum temperature of 27.4 °C was recorded in the city. Also, Jaipur witnessed the hottest afternoon of the season so far as a maximum temperature of 40.0 °C was recorded. The roads wore an empty look in the afternoon as people confined themselves to their homes and offices.
“In the coming days Jaipur is likely to get its maximum temperature at or above 42.0 °C. From April 25 onwards, Jaipur is likely to get its maximum temperature above 42.0 °C,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.
Dust storms and mild showers were witnessed in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner and Churu districts of the state, yet it provided no respite from the scorching heat conditions. With the rising temperatures many places witnessed abrupt power cuts. Moreover, a water crisis has already started in Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhilwara and Dausa districts of the state. More than 6 places in the state witnessed its maximum temperature above 40.0 °C .
“Since the factors including western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation have vanished the temperatures will continue to rise in the state in the next couple of days. Majority of the places will have its maximum temperatures above the normal notch in the next couple of days,” said Jaipur Met official.
