The NSE Nifty index closed 41.4 points down at 17618.75, while BSE Sensex ended down 159.21 points at 59567.8.
On the other hand, HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 2.36 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 2.31 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 2.16 per cent), Wipro Ltd.(down 1.93 per cent) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.93 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
