Police look for gunman after double-shooting in Gaston County neighborhood

Police are looking for a gunman after two people were shot Tuesday night in the area of April Drive and Grier Street, which is in a neighborhood south of Gastonia.

A Channel 9 crew got to the scene and saw several entrances to the neighborhood blocked off as police investigated.

Robert Louis Singletary, 24, who is believed to be armed, took off after the shooting, and police are searching for him. He is 6 feet, 2 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair, weighing approximately 223 pounds.

Police do not know if the suspect is on foot or in a vehicle. Residents were told to stay indoors and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

The victims were taken to Caromont Medical Center.

One shooting victim is in serious condition and the other is stable, officials said.

Singleton was also accused of hitting his 21-year-old girlfriend in the head with a mini-sledgehammer in December 2022.
