NOIDA: A Pocso Court on Tuesday sentenced a tutor to four years of imprisonment for molesting a minor girl in 2018.
The convict — Naveen Kumar, 45, a native of Bihar — was living in a rented accommodation in Greater Noida. He used to teach in a private school and also gave tuition classes to students.
Special public prosecutor Chawanpal Singh said the girl was 12-years old at the time of crime. Her father had filed a complaint at Ecotech III Police station on August 31, 2018. “My daughter used to take tuitions from Kumar. On August 27 he took her to his houseand molested her,” he told police.
An FIR was registered against Kumar and he was arrested on September 1. He came out on bail after three months.
A chargesheet was filed on October 6 and charges framed on June 11. The accused decided to face trial.
Kumar told the court that he had given Rs 60,000 as loan to the girl’s father. “They also owe me Rs 8,000 as tuition fee. They filed a false complaint against me so that they don’t need to clear dues,” he told.
Additional sessions judge (Pocso II) Chandra Mohan Srivastava relied on the evidence and testimonies of witnesses and said, “Naveen Kumar is sentenced to four years of imprisonment and fined Rs 30,000 under Section 8 of Pocso Act.”
