Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.22% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 10:40AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Axis Bank(up 0.8 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 0.27 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 0.13 per cent) and Federal Bank(up 0.11 per cent) were among the top gainers.

AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.92 per cent), ICICI Bank(down 0.79 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.75 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.43 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.32 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.22 per cent at 42172.15 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 29.9 points at 17630.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 119.0 points at 59608.01.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 0 were trading in the green, while 0 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Zomato Ltd., Tata Steel, Bank of Maharashtra and Piramal Pharma Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Mangalam Worldwide Ltd., Kamat Hotels, Faze Three Ltd, Nintec Systems Ltd. and Infinium Pharmachem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Jakharia Fabric, Marico, Sanco Industries, Orient Electric and Cyber Media Ltd hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
