Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Tuesday at 10:40AM

Orient Green Power Company(up 3.24%), Indowind Energy(up 3.20%), RTNPOWER(up 1.54%), Torrent Power(up 1.36%), Energy Development Company(up 0.88%), PTC India(up 0.87%), NLC India(up 0.82%), Inox wind(up 0.73%), Voltamp Transformers(up 0.66%) and Adani Transmissions(up 0.62%) were among the top gainers.

PIGL(down 4.86%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.08%), Kalpataru Power Transmission(down 1.74%), Reliance Power(down 1.57%), KEC International(down 1.51%), NHPC(down 1.15%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.12%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.06%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 0.83%) and GE Power India Limited(down 0.68%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 17.7 points down at 17689.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 69.41 points at 59841.34 at around 10:40AM.

IndusInd Bank(up 1.25%), HCL Technologies(up 1.13%), Eicher Motors(up 1.02%), Coal India(up 0.94%), Britannia Industries(up 0.61%), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.58%), Tata Motors(up 0.57%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 0.57%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.51%) and Nestle India(up 0.5%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(down 1.48%), Reliance Industries(down 1.37%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.17%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.11%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.06%), JSW Steel(down 0.72%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.64%), Tata Consultancy(down 0.57%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.54%) and Adani Enterprises(down 0.47%) were trading in the red.
