Army land deal: Chhavi, WB official summoned
Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned two officials of Jharkhand and West Bengal in connection with the 4.55 acres of land under the Army’s possession in Morabadi mauza and the one-acre plot in Gari mauza.
Its probe into the land scams in Ranchi city revealed that Register-II was tampered with to create fictitious owners concerning the plots. It has summoned IAS officer and director social welfare department, Chhavi Ranjan, in Ranchi on April 21. Tridip Mishra, the additional Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata, has been asked to appear before its zonal office on May 2 in connection with the same case.
The ED had conducted a survey of circle office Bargain on February 9, 2023 and the office of Registrar of Assurances in Kolkata on February 15 under Section 16 of the PMLA Act.
It came to know that the Register–II containing sale deed of property at khata no. 37 plot no. 28 of Gari mauza pertaining to one-acre land in Chesire home road and Register-II containing the sale deed of plot 557 in Morabadi mauza were tampered with.
Similarly, the registers containing the sale deeds of plot no. 668 and the plot no. 557 under Morabadi mauza and the sale deed of property in Gari mauza were also amended in the Registrar of Assurances.
A case was registered with Sadar police station regarding the one-acre plot at Chesire home by one Upendra Gope. The police had, however, closed the case declaring it as civil. The police had failed to investigate the angle of fake documents used for grabbing the land.
The ED got the documents concerned scrutinized by a forensic lab to detect the scam. It subsequently carried out raids in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal to seize a large number of land-related documents and arrested seven persons.
