GURGAON: A short-circuit triggered power disruption at Civil Hospital, Sector 10 for over 12 hours on Monday, affecting out-patient (OPD) services.
Services at the emergency unit and gynaecology wards were not affected as they were running on power backup but OPD services had to be run manually till the supply was restored, according to doctors.
Several patients coming to the OPD clinics on Monday were turned away as there was no power. The entire operation was running manually, increasing the wait time. Computers for registration of OPD patients were not functioning due to disruption in the supply.
“The power backup started automatically and that saved the emergency and gyne department,” said a nurse at the hospital
A senior doctor at the hospital maintained that all patients admitted to the hospital for surgery were attended to carefully.
“The supply was disrupted in OPD till 2.15pm. We got the power completely restored at 2pm. No planned surgeries were affected,” the doctor added.
Currently, around 450 patients are admitted at the hospital.
