MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for groping a minor in a local train compartment on Sunday. The 17-year-old girl was on-board the general compartment of a CSMT-bound local with a friend when the incident occurred around 4 pm.
"The girl is a college student and had stepped out for a shopping trip with a friend. The two were in a slow local between Vikhroli and CSMT when the accused groped her," said a police official. The incident occurred in the moving train.
Soon they called up the police control room for help. A team of policemen boarded the train at Sion station and caught the accused, Israr Hussain. He was de-boarded and brought to the Kurla GRP post. Hussain is a labourer by profession. He has been booked under the Pocso Act. The police said he does not have a previous criminal history and lives in Wadala.
