Gurgaon: Residents of DLF-1 along with Councillor Rama Rani Ratheeon Monday met
MCG commissioner PC Meena to flag civic problems that they have been facing for years now. They alleged that green belts, open gymnasiums and networks of drains and sewer lines are not maintained properly in the area.
Residents said the maintenance of the green belts along Gurgaon-Faridabad Road has not been done since November 2022. “The civic body’s term expired in November last year, after which the green belts are neither being maintained by the MCG nor handed over to any agency for proper upkeep. Even open gyms are in bad shape due to lack of maintenance,” residents said.
Councillor Rama Rani Rathee said, “People cannot walk on the tracks. I requested that the green belts be immediately handed over to an appropriate agency for regular maintenance, or it can be handed over to the area RWAs. I raised the issues of damaged gymnasiums and swings in various parks of ward 34, regarding which the MCG chief directed the horticulture wing staff to take note and resolve the issue immediately.”
Residents also pointed out about the cleanliness in DLF 1 and 2. “As spring gives way to summer, there are heaps of dry leaves everywhere in the colony, but sanitation workers are completely missing from the area. The sanctioned strength in both phases is more than 130. But on the ground hardly 20 to 30 sanitation workers are seen, and also not doing their job sincerely,” a resident, requesting anonymity, said.
“The contractor is withdrawing public money without doing his work properly. Meena said fresh tenders have been floated and new agencies have been finalised. The cases have been sent to the government for final approval. In the next 15 to 20 days new agencies will take over the work,” Rathee added.
On the construction of J Block underground water tank, the councillor said, “The MCG chief has spoken to the chief engineer on this matter and was informed that after technical bids were disqualified they have invited fresh bids again.”
