Varanasi: The seven-day Sankat Mochan Music Festival concluded with the mesmerising vocal recital by noted musician Pt Sajan Mishra and his son Swaransh Mishra on Sunday. They were accompanied by Pt Sanju Sahay on tabla, Pt Dharmanath Mishra on samvadini and Vinayak Sahay on sarangi.
The concert began with the Odissi performance by Pt Ratikant Mohapatra and Sujata Mohapatra followed by a vocal recital and a bhajan by Rajeshwar Acharya. He was accompanied by Pritesh Acharya, Shivani Acharya and Bachcha Babu in vocal recital, Nand Kishor Mishra on tabla and Ashok Kumar Jha on samvadini.
S Akash and Yagyesh from Mumbai presented a duet on flute and violin. They were accompanied by Pt Mukund Rajdev on the tabla. In the next presentation, Pt Vishwanath presented a vocal recital. He was accompanied by Parvez Hussain on tabla and Dinkar Sharma on samvadini.
Noted Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam also marked his presence on the concluding day with some film songs. He was followed by famous violinist L Subrahmanyam, who presented a number of Carnatic ragas and compositions on the violin, accompanied by VV Ramanamoorthy on Mridangam, G Satyasai on morsing and Pt Sanju Sahay on tabla.
In the next presentation, noted vocalist Kankana Banerjee presented Jhumra in Raag Bhatiyar and Tarana in Teen Taal and a bhajan. She was accompanied by Subhash Kantidas on tabla and Mohit Sahni on samvadini. Renowned tabla player of Banaras Gharana, Pt Sanju Sahay presented a solo tabla recital. He was accompanied by Pt Dharmnath Mishra on samvadini and Vinayak Sahay on sarangi.
