Spirit of Goa fest in Colva from April 21-23

Spirit of Goa fest in Colva from April 21-23
Panaji: An event specifically focussed on feni – the ‘Spirit of Goa’ festival – is being organised this coming weekend by the tourism department in south Goa. The festival this time, will be held at Colva at the SAG ground from April 21 to 23.
The just-concluded Cashew Fest organised by Goa forest development corporation (GFDC) in Panaji - where different cashew fruits were on display - had a large attendance over the weekend.
Visitors to the upcoming Colva festival will have an opportunity to taste a variety of cashew and coconut fenis, besides getting a first-hand view of the brewing process. Similarly different vessels and implements used for making feni will also be exhibited as well as stalls with crafts made from forest waste.
Goan artists have been invited to be part of the event to showcase their handcrafted items. While the Spirit of Goa festival is relatively new in the calendar of local festivities, it was started around a decade ago and was stopped during the pandemic. In the past, even as the tourism department had been lauded for organising the festival, some had pointed out that there was more emphasis on food and music.
