At 41.5 Celsius, Lucknow records hottest day

LUCKNOW: The city recorded its hottest day of this summer season with maximum temperature touching 41.5 degrees Celsius on Monday.
The mercury level is likely to rise further on Tuesday while some relief due to partly cloudy sky is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
Monday's maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius was 3 notches above normal, while minimum was at 23.5 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal.
According to the state Met department, the sky will remain mainly clear on Tuesday with maximum and minimum temperatures around 42 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, many parts of the state also continued to reel under heat wave on Monday. Prayagraj was the hottest in the state with the maximum temperature of 44.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Jhansi (43.6 degrees), Rae Bareli (43.1 degrees), Sultanpur (43 degrees), Varanasi (42.4 degrees), and Kanpur (42 degrees).
Senior scientist at the state met department, Mohammad Danish, said that temperature would rise across the state on Tuesday.
"However, the impact of a western disturbance (WD) over the Himalayas will be felt in west UP in the form of cloudy sky and drizzle in isolated places from Tuesday evening. Temperature would drop by some degrees during this period, but rise again thereafter," he added.
