IndiGo flight suffers tail strike during landing at Nagpur airport, no injuries
An Indigo flight 6E-203 from Mumbai flight suffered a tail strike during landing at Nagpur airport. The incident took place on April 14 as flight 6E 203 was on course to Nagpur from Mumbai. "On 14th April 2023, flight 6E 203, from Mumbai had a tail strike while landing at Nagpur. The aircraft was declared grounded at Nagpur airport for assessment and repairs. The incident is being investigated in detail," IndiGo said in a statement.

Billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk is again sounding warning bells on the dangers of artificial intelligence to humanity - and claiming that a popular chatbot has a liberal bias that he plans to counter with his own AI creation. Musk told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a segment aired Monday night that he plans to create an alternative to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT that he is calling "TruthGPT," which will be a "maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe." The idea, Musk said, is that an AI that wants to understand humanity is less likely to destroy it. Musk also said he's worried that ChatGPT "is being trained to be politically correct."
EU ambassador assaulted in Khartoum amid violent conflict in Sudan
EU's ambassador in Sudan Aidan O'Hara has reportedly been assaulted at his home in Khartoum, which is gripped by deadly fighting between rival forces, Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin has said. The Irish diplomat was not "seriously hurt", Martin has confirmed, the BBC reported. Martin described the attack as a "gross violation of obligations to protect diplomats". Around 185 people have been killed and more than 1,800 injured in three days of fighting, according to the UN.

The United States, South Korea and Japan conducted a joint missile defense exercise on Monday aimed at countering North Korea’s growing nuclear arsenal, as a top North Korean army official warned the U.S. that it risks “a clearer security crisis and insurmountable threats.” Last week, North Korea conducted one of its most provocative weapons demonstrations in years by flight-testing for the first time an intercontinental ballistic missile powered by solid fuel. It is considered a more mobile, harder-to-detect weapon and could directly target the continental United States.
Man charged in shooting of Black teen Ralph Yarl at his door
An 84-year-old white man who shot a Black teen that approached the wrong house in Kansas City, Missouri, while trying to pick up his siblings was charged Monday with first-degree assault. Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thompson said at a news conference that there was a “racial component” to the incident last Thursday night in which Andrew Lester twice shot 16-year-old Ralph Yarl, who is recovering at home after being released Sunday from the hospital. But nothing in the charging documents says the shooting was racially motivated, Thompson clarified.

Himachal Pradesh: Security beefed up ahead of President Droupadi Murmu's visit
Security arrangements have been beefed up in the state capital Shimla in the wake of President Droupadi Murmu's three-day visit from Tuesday, an official statement said. "The capital town of Himachal Pradesh is all set to welcome the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. She will be visiting Himachal Pradesh from April 18 to 21, 2023 and will stay at Rashtrapati Niwas in Chharabra," the statement read.In wake of the President's visit, the Shimla police has beefed up the security arrangements.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation paused its use of Twitter on Monday after the social media platform owned by Elon Musk stamped CBC’s account with a label the public broadcaster says is intended to undermine its credibility. Twitter labelled CBC/Radio-Canada “government-funded media" — the same label that prompted National Public Radio in the U.S. to similarly quit Twitter last Wednesday.
At least 180 people killed, 1,800 injured in Sudan clashes
At least 180 civilians have been killed while more than 1,800 civilians and combatants were injured in fighting between Sudan's military and the country's main paramilitary force, according to the United Nations envoy to Sudan, Volker Perthes, The New York Times reported. According to NYT, the fighting has left many of the five million residents of the capital, Khartoum, stranded at home without electricity or water as they marked the last few days of Ramzan, the Muslim holy month when many fast daily from dawn until dusk.

Massive landslide buries trucks in northwest Pakistan
A massive landslide struck a key highway near the Torkham border town in northwestern Pakistan before dawn on Tuesday, burying several trucks and injuring some people, police and rescue officials said. Police official Ishrat Khan said dozens of firefighters and rescuers were trying to save the lives of the truck drivers and other people hit by the landslide near Afghanistan. Officials said the landslide was triggered by lightning amid rain.
