Sule also met representatives of Vetal Tekdi Bachav Kruti Samiti at Law College Road. (express photo) SPELLING OUT her party’s stand clear on the Vetal Tekdi issue, NCP MP Supriya Sule said on Tuesday that the current proposal for the road link project “does not seem to be feasible”.
“I saw the site from where the road is proposed. I wonder why the administration does not consider it as part of the hill,” Sule said during a visit to Pune.
“Environment cannot be damaged for development work. I think the administration should discuss the project with the public and find a solution to it. The present proposal does not seem to be feasible,” the NCP MP said.
Sule also met representatives of Vetal Tekdi Bachav Kruti Samiti at Law College Road.
With elections around the corner, the Congress and Shiv Sena have extended support to the agitation against the project while the NCP appeared divided on the issue. Earlier, local NCP leader Nilesh Nikam had said that there was a need for the link road.
“I have been pushing for the project to ease the traffic situation on Senapati Bapat road and Law College road,” he had said. However, the city NCP chief Prashant Jagtap had said the opinion of Nikam was not that of the party.
“The NCP will hold a meeting to take a stand on the project. We don’t want people to suffer due to the project,” he had said.
