The Samantha-starring movie Shaakuntalam only made Rs 60 lakhs on its fourth day in theatres, according to a report from india Today. According to reports, Shaakuntalam has nett profits of 6.25 crore rupees in india but is expected to lose money. The movie reportedly cost Rs 65 crores to produce. On Monday, april 17, "the telugu version registered an occupancy of 9.63 percent," the report said.

Shaakuntalam is a mythological drama that gunasekhar wrote and directed that is based on the legend of Shaakuntala. In the meantime, gunasekhar wrote and directed the mythological drama film Shaakuntalam in Telugu. On april 14, the movie was released in telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The movie reportedly made Rs 5 crores across all languages on its first day of release despite not drawing many viewers. It performed poorly on day 2 as well, earning only Rs 1.5 crore. Shaakuntaam was able to make Rs 2 crores on day 3.
