Same-sex marriage hearing: CJI Chandrachud says 'no absolute concept of 'Man' or 'Woman' based on genitals'

The Supreme Court on Tuesday began hearing arguments on a batch of pleas seeking legal validation of same-sex marriages, an issue that has wide societal ramifications and has sharply divided opinion. During the hearing, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud said that there is no absolute concept of a man or a woman and the question of gender is not determined by one's genitals.
