IEI conducting seminar on ‘green buildings’ for 2 days
Dharwad: The Institute of Engineers, Dharwad chapter is conducting an All-India seminar on “Green Building: Need of the Hour” on Monday and Tuesday at Balekundri Bhavan located in the IEI premises near DC's office in Dharwad city.
IIT-Dharwad associate dean Dhiraj Patil was the chief guest, while engineers M Nagaraj and Chaitanya Kulkarni were the other guests. IEI Dharwad chairman Vijay Totiger presided over the event.
The seminar aims to deliberate on the impact of climate change. The organisers said climate change throughout the globe is disturbing human settlements and structures. Buildings that civil engineers plan to construct for human society have to be futuristic as well as satisfy the present needs of human society. In this direction, conceptualising, designing and constructing buildings with a focus on healthy and wealthy human settlements is the need of the day.
The seminar aims to create awareness among the engineering community and help them to rethink their professional practices and future readiness. This is to counter challenges that may crop up in any settlement as well as countries in the form of natural disasters, and climate change lifestyles.
Practising engineers, engineers from government departments, faculty members and students from engineering colleges, architects and researchers are attending the seminar.
