IndiGo flight from Mumbai-Nagpur suffers tail strike during landing

The airline further confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

An IndiGo flight en route to Nagpur from Mumbai suffered a tail strike while landing at the airport on April 14. The company shared a statement today stating that the incident is being investigated.

The IndiGo in a statement said On 14th April 2023, flight 6E 203, from Mumbai had a tail strike while landing at Nagpur. The aircraft was declared grounded at Nagpur airport for assessment and repairs. The incident is being investigated in detail.

The airline further confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.

A tail strike happens when an aircraft’s tail or empennage collides with the ground or any other stationary object during takeoff or landing.

Two days ago, an IndiGo flight en route to Bagdogra had to make an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after it suffered a technical glitch. There were more than 200 people onboard. An alternate aircraft was provided for the passengers to be flown to Bagdogra.

On the same day, a full emergency was declared at Kolkata airport after the Saudi Arabia Cargo flight, carrying goods from Jeddah to Guangzhou, made an emergency landing at the Kolkata airport after the pilot reported a windshield crack.

The plane was flying over the Bay of Bengal when the pilot sought permission for an emergency landing. The aircraft had four crew on board when a crack developed in the windshield.

The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday filed a case against a Samajwadi Party leader and five other for mishandling a man and trying to undress his wife. The horrific incident is said to be reported from Pratapgarh.

According to the reports, Gulshan Yadav and five others barged into the house of the victim on Sunday evening, looted money from her husband, mishandled him, and tried to disrobe her.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rohit Mishra said the Pratapgarh Police has booked all the six accused in this regard under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Gulshan Yadav, who was contesting on the Samajwadi Party ticket, was defeated by the Independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

This is not the first time that the case has been registered against Samajwadi Party leaders. Earlier, the UP Police arrested the Samajwadi Party office bearer for allegedly making indecent remarks on social media.

The case was registered by Richa Rajput against Manish Jagan Agarwal, who worked at the party’s social media cell, under Sections 354(A) (sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act at Hazratganj police station.

Amid rising temperature, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) on Tuesday morning has forecasted that parts of the country may not get relief from the heat over the next three days.

The weather department has predicted that some parts of West Bengal and Bihar should get prepared for the scorching heat over the next 72 hours.

IMD said very likely heat conditions to hit the southern area of Ganges- the Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar over the upcoming three days.

The Met department has also forcasted, similar conditions to be experienced in parts of Sikkim and Odisha over the next 24 hours and Jharkhand is also likely to experience high temperatures over the next two days.

The situation likely to prevail in some pockets of both west and east Uttar Pradesh also for two days, the office has also made similar predictions for the coastal state Andhra Pradesh.

As per the weather office, the heat wave conditions is prevailing over the Gangetic West Bengal for last 6 days now and over Bihar and Coastal Andhra since last 4 days and 3 days respectively.

With the season of summer yet to arrive in its full phase, the heat wave conditions in India has already worsened, On Tuesday over 36 weather stations across the country recorded their maximum temperatures to be above 42 degree Celsius.

Baripada in Odisha and Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh ranked top in the list of hottest cities yesterday recording 44.2 and 44.6 degree Celsius temperature respectively.

The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6 degree Celsius temperature on Tuesday which was the third day in a row when Delhi’s temperature maintained over 40 degree Celsius mark.

The temperature in parts of northeast region also recorded their maximum temperature 4-5 degrees above the normal.

Looking at the rising heat wave conditions, chief ministers of several states have ordered that the educational institutions in their state to remain shut.

Yet another incident from Bihar, three officers on-duty including a woman inspector were attacked by mob during an inspection to check the illegal sand mining.

A video has went viral on social media where a bunch of people can be seen attacking three officials with sticks and pelting stones at them.

In the viral video, it can bee clearly seen a truck filled with sand flees the scene, while the mob thrashing the officials with sticks, beating them and pelting stones at them. The man recording the video can be heard saying hit them, hit them while he run towards the three who were sitting in the ground and were being beaten by the mob.

The woman seen in the video is identified as Amya Kumari who is the district mining officer.

The incident is reported from Bihta area, a small town that comes under the Pataliputra Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar. Amya and her team who as a part of their drive had gone to this location for inspection and search operation of illegal sand mining, when they got charged by the mob.

Patna district administration in a statement issued has said that the incident took place in Bihta area when a team had gone for inspection of illegal sand mining and when the officials reached near the Koliwar Bridge, they got attacked by the anti-social elements.

The local police has seized as many as 50 vehicles involved in the illegal sand mining and has registered an FIR against 44 people.

As per reports, the police has already successfully made some arrests in the case and more is to be done in the future.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra told media that soon they are going to make more arrests and the investigation is underway, he said the mastermind behind the incident will also be arrested soon.
