UPSRTC to constitute SPV for development of bus stations into bus ports
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) board of directors on Tuesday gave in-principle approval to constitute a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with National Highways Logistic Management Limited (NHLML) for development of bus stations identified into world-class bus ports on PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode.

In November last year, the cabinet had approved the proposal for development of 23 bus stations into bus ports through PPP under the DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) model.
Under the scheme, bus stations in 16 districts — which include Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Lucknow, Raebareli, Bareilly, Meerut, Hapur, Aligarh, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur — will be developed in the first phase.
The board also agreed in-principle to develop electric vehicle charging stations at ten vacant spaces of the corporation through PPP.
The charging stations will be set up as per the norms of the state government's UP Electric Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022.
The board also granted the in-principle approval to operate 100 electric buses on routes identified in the state.
Electric buses are meant to operate as urban transport (buses in urban areas).
The board also took decisions related to outsourcing of employees, incentives to employees and special consideration for women employees during pregnancy.
