In Odisha, man gets life term for killing brother in 2021

BERHAMPUR: The additional district and sessions judge court in Ganjam district sentenced a 40-year-old man to life imprisonment for the murder of his younger brother at Mangalpur under Aska police station two years back.
“Haribandhu Pradhan was also fined Rs 10,000 by Justice Prabir Kumar Choudhury. The court issued the verdict after recording the statements of 14 witnesses,” said public prosecutor Sudhansu Sekhar Panda.
Haribandhu murdered his younger brother Sanjay (35) with a sharp weapon on June 18, 2021, at the latter’s house. He went missing after committing the crime. He was arrested from Manikapur under Badagarh police station on June 26, 2021.
Sources said Haribandhu was enraged as his father was arranging Sanjay’s marriage while he was yet to be married. Police registered a murder case the same day based on the complaint of their father Ram Chandra Pradhan.
