BHUBANESWAR: Most parts of Odisha sweltered under a severe heatwave-like condition on Monday with the maximum temperature crossing 44 degree Celsius at Baripada.
As many as nine places in the state recorded a temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that thunderstorm with lightning is likely in some districts on April 21.
With 44.2 degree Celsius, which is 6.1 degree Celsius more than the normal temperature of Monday, Baripada in Mayurbhanj was the hottest place in the state, followed by Boudh and Nuapada at 43.5 degrees Celsius each.
