In a head-on collision between two two-wheelers at Kapileshwari-Ponda, riders of both vehicles were left injured on Tuesday. Police disclosed the names of the injured as Ranjeet Kavlekar, a resident of Kavlem and Deepraj Dessai from Valpoi.

According to Ponda police, the accident occurred around 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday at Rathamal-Kapileshwari on Kavlem-Ponda road.

Ranjeet Kavlekar was proceeding towards Ponda on his scooter, while Deepraj Dessai was heading towards Kavlem on his bike. As they reached Kapileshwari, their two-wheelers collided against each other. While Kavlekar sustained serious injuries, Dessai escaped with minor injuries.

Although exact reason for the accident was unclear, locals claimed that one of the riders was trying to avoid an uneven road due to a sewerage chamber and in that process entered the wrong lane, resulting in the mishap. Police conducted the panchanama of the accident site.
