VARANASI: District judge Ajay Krishna Vishxesha on Monday accepted the plea of four women plaintiffs seeking transfer of seven cases related to Gyanvapi from various courts to his court.
“The district judge on Monday ordered to transfer seven cases related to Gyanvapi to his court by accepting the plea of plaintiffs 2 to 5 (Laxmi Devi, Sita Sahu, Manju Vyas and Rekha Pathak) in suit no. 18/2022,” district government counsel (civil) Mahendra Prasad Pandey told TOI on Monday.
In all these seven pleas, petitioners are seeking regular worship of Shringar Gauri and other deities in the Gyanvapi mosque compound.
“In his order, the district judge has mentioned that the cases would now be examined to know the relevancy of their consolidation,” said Pandey, adding that the next hearing in the case would take place on April 21.
Vishnu Shankar Jain, the lawyer of four women plaintiffs had moved an application on December 5, 2022, seeking transfer of the seven cases pending in different courts to the district judge’s court.
In the application, Jain had mentioned that the seven cases — six pending in the court of civil judge (senior division) and one in the fast-track court of the civil judge (senior division) — are of similar nature, hence if they were tried together, public time and money would be saved and unavoidable difficulties of legal nature might not arise.
