LUCKNOW: The city on Saturday recorded the second
Covid death in the last 11 days, taking the toll to 2,703 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.
The latest casualty was a 68-year-old man of Daliganj area.
He was admitted to a private hospital on Sitapur Road on Wednesday, where he tested Covid positive and was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). He was kept on ventilator support for three days and died on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest triggered by multiorgan failure.
Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Aggarwal said the patient was suffering from chronic kidney disease, diabetes, chronic hypertension and shortness of breath for years.
"He was admitted to SGPGIMS in altered mental status with confusion, amnesia and loss of alertness. Despite best efforts, doctors could not save him," he said.
Earlier on April 4, a 60-year-old woman had died of cardiac arrest due to multiple organ failure at KGMU after being infected by the virus.
