‘Police couldn’t shoot back amid chaos’, says Atiq Ahmed’s advocate, briefs on shootout

Briefing on the shootout of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, his advocate Vijay Mishra on April 15 in Prayagraj narrated the incident and said that the police couldn’t shoot back at the culprits amid the chaos. “Police were taking them for medical check-up. Gunshots were heard when we entered the hospital. Police held the shooters immediately. They police did not shoot back as a chaos was created,” Mishra said. Mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead on April 15. The mafia-turned-politician and his brother were being taken for a medical in Prayagraj. The UP Police are carrying flag marches in several parts of the state to maintain the situation in UP. Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed in all the districts of the state.
