Worked as tahsildar a few days ago, he is BJP candidate now
Haveri: The BJP has announced a surprise candidate for the Haveri Reserved assembly segment - Gavisiddappa Dyamannavar. Interestingly, he was working as a tahsildar just two days ago, but now he is a candidate for the saffron party.
An MSc (agriculture) graduate, Dyamannavar resigned from his government service and joined BJP officially. He has succeeded in getting a party ticket because he was a clean hand in his 20 years of government service and is backed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for the Haveri reserved constituency. Most of his service was in the Haveri assembly segment.
According to sources, Gavisiddappa, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste (left), has been loyal to RSS since his student days and is a top brass in the organisation. He was born in Lingadal village in Gadag district and has an MSc degree in agriculture.
After registering to get a doctoral degree, he got a government job. He had put in efforts to get a BJP ticket in 2018, but the party chose MLA Nehru Olekar. While continuing in government service, he was in touch with BJP leaders to contest the assembly election from Haveri seat.
Gavisiddappa started his government service as a first division clerk (FDC) in the department of revenue in 2003. He was promoted as deputy tahsildar in 2013 and tahsildar in 2021. His resignation from government was accepted on April 13.
“Gavisiddappa has served people as a government employee very honestly and attended all grievances with a smile on his face during his service. Moreover, He has also been extending help to the poor and the needy. We have a lot of expectations from him since he will be contesting in the assembly election as a BJP candidate,” said Siddalingappa Kalkoti, a resident of Koradur village.
When contacted, Gavisiddappa said he was happy during his 20 years of government service, but there were some limitations. “I would like to serve more people by being elected as a legislator from Haveri. I worked honestly as a government servant and I am loyal to RSS. For all these reasons, the party has given me a ticket and I will win this election,” said Dyamannavar.
