A large cloud cover over Pune and its neighbouring region still exists which can give rise to thunder and lightning as well. Unlike Saturday, Sunday began comparatively with a clear sky but is expected to be cloudy post-afternoon. While rain is expected in the evening, thunder and lightning are also likely. The weather bureau said there are slim chances of a hailstorm as well on Sunday.
Shivajinagar had reported 3.8 mm of rainfall on Saturday. On the other hand, rural parts had reported more rainfall. Hailstorms were reported from many parts like Katraj, Ambegaon, and others.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the yellow alert over the city is for citizens to take action against thunder and lightning. IMD has also retained its advice for not stepping out in the afternoon.
Earlier this week, Pune had seen multiple incidents of tree falling and waterlogged roads due to an intense spell of rain.
