3 officers shot in western Minnesota during domestic call, Pope County sheriff says
Three law enforcement officers were shot responding to a Saturday evening domestic call in western Minnesota, according to the Pope County sheriff’s office.
The officers’ conditions were unclear late Saturday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, Pope County law enforcement responded to a residential domestic call in Cyrus around 7:30 p.m.
One Starbuck police officer and two Pope County sheriff’s deputies were struck by gunfire “during the arrest,” according to the sheriff’s office Facebook account.
“There is no continuing threat to the public at this time,” the post said without mentioning any suspects or the conditions of the officers.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called in to manage the investigation. The BCA didn’t immediately announce any further information about the incident.
Cyrus, with a population of some 300, is located about 20 miles southwest of Alexandria.
