Industrial waste in sewer lines: Dyeing units warned again
Ludhiana: In order to catch hold of the erring dyeing units which are reportedly dumping untreated water into sewer lines, the municipal corporation (MC) has once again instructed all the units to not discharge their domestic waste into the sewers, either.
On Saturday as well, joint teams of the MC and and Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) visited some units in this regard, and instructed the dyeing units to discharge their industrial and domestic waste water into the common effluent treatment plants (CETPs), instead.
PPCB executive engineer Sandeep Kumar shared that the teams on Saturday found that despite repeated instructions, many dyeing units were still throwing the domestic discharge into the MC sewer lines. They asked the erring units to rectify this, and warned of strict action if they failed to do so.
On Thursday night as well, the joint teams had found a dyeing unit in focal point discharging the waste into sewers.
Industrial waste harms the sewage treatment plants, so CETPs have been made to treat the same.
