Post played major role in strengthening unity in India: Goa governor P S Sreedharan Pillai

PANAJI: Services of the postal department played a major role in strengthening the unity of people of India, said Goa governor P S Sreedharan Pillai. He was speaking on the pre-Liberation communication system at the felicitation function of the Goa Regional Star Award that was recently organised by the department of posts, Goa region.
"People are opting for modern devices for communication, but the importance of postal services is still the same," he said. He also complimented the awardees and urged the staff of the postal department to work harder for the betterment of the department and nation.
He further commended the postal department's banking service which has reached ordinary people at the village level.
Postmaster general, Goa region, Sayeed Rashid said that during the last financial year 2022-23, Goa has opened a total of 7.6 lakh accounts. During the national drive, the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) maha mela, Goa postal region has been ranked third for opening a total of 1.5lakh POSB accounts.
