MUMBAI: A real estate agent has lodged a police complaint against a couple for duping him of Rs 10 lakh after making a false offer of providing investment funding of Rs 100 crore. The Bangur Nagar police have registered an FIR against the couple.
The complainant said he met the couple in July 2022 in the presence of his business partner and the owner of a construction company.
The couple offered an investment funding of Rs 100 crore at an interest rate of Rs 12 to 13.5% for an upcoming project of the construction company. They claimed that the loan would be disbursed within 45 days but processing fees would have to be paid in advance. They drew up a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the owner of construction company and processed his documents but took the processing fees for the loan from the real estate agent.
Later they started to give excuses and no funds were disbursed. The real estate agent then approached the cops.
