This is the first time that the bridge will be shut after it was reopened to the public in 2020. The old bridge collapsed in September 2018. All vehicles - except trucks - will be diverted via Durgapur Bridge. Trucks will mostly be diverted via Taratala Road-Hyde Road. "Since it'll be a weekend, we are not worried about traffic. We'll place extra personnel around Chetla Bridge and Durgapur Bridge to handle the flow of vehicles from Alipore," said a southwest traffic guard officer.
Cops expect pressure at the New Alipore Petrol pump roundabout. Smaller vehicles might be rerouted through Roy Bahadur Road. The directions have been put up around the flyover, said southwest traffic guard officers. All south-bound vehicles of D H Road moving towards Behala (except trucks), will be diverted from DH Road/Judges Court Road Crossing to avail Judges Court Road-Lal Batti Crossing-Alipore Road-Durgapur Bridge-New Alipore Island-Sahapur Road-Taratala Crossing-D H Road.
