Kanpur:Christ Church College alumni Association, Kanpur in association with its Class of 1980 organized a lecture programme in the college Auditorium on Saturday. The chief guest on the occasion was Assembly speaker Satish Mahana. The lecture series started with the lighting of the lamp.
The chief guest Satish Mahana, alumnus of the college delivered the inaugural lecture on the topic ‘Challenges in Democracy’. He said that some of the challenges before the democracy in India are illiteracy, poverty, gender discrimination, casteism, communalism, regionalism, corruption, criminalisation of politics and violence. “Literacy is very important for the success of democracy but in India it is still a challenge to remove illiteracy,” he said.
He urged that we all must work together to overcome these challenges.
